With Strong Interest in Community Engagement, Division of Code Enforcement Hosts Healthy Housing 101 Open House on Tuesday, August 30

Code Inspectors to offer guided tours of what makes a home safe and healthy at 321 Baker Ave.

Syracuse, N.Y. — The City of Syracuse Division of Code Enforcement will host a Healthy Housing 101 Open House on Tuesday, August 30 to promote awareness of common code violations and educate neighbors on the ways to keep homes safe and healthy. City residents will have the opportunity to take a guided tour through a home with open code violations to review what to look for in homes, as well as learn about resources for fixing problem areas. The three-hour drop-in session will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 321 Baker Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13205.

“Homeowners and residents may not be aware of the issues in their homes until it is too late, or they have an existing violation that makes it unsafe or unhealthy to be living in,” said Jake Dishaw, Director of Code Enforcement. “Through Healthy Housing 101, we educate owners and renters alike so that they’ll know which concerns and violations to proactively look for, and the resources they have available to them.”

Also tabling at Healthy Housing 101 will be Cityline, Neighborhood and Business Development, the Syracuse Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Bureau, the Syracuse Police Department and Home HeadQuarters.

Refreshments and information tables on related programs and resources offered by the City’s Division of Code Enforcement will also be available. For more information about the open house, contact codeenforcement@syrgov.net.
