TSA to hold two-day hiring event to recruit officers to work at Syracuse Hancock International Airport

TSA offering a $1,000 hiring bonus

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is conducting a two-day hiring event on Friday, Dec. 9, and Saturday, Dec. 10, for individuals who are interested in becoming TSA officers to work at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Individuals will be able to start the application process during this two-day event, which includes computer-based testing.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days at the Embassy Suites hotel, located at 6646 Collamer Road in Syracuse. Free parking is available. Several TSA officials and officers will be on site to guide individuals through the application process, conduct interviews, and answer questions about what the job entails.

There are currently openings for both full- and part-time positions with a starting salary of $18.59 per hour to include a 10 percent retention incentive. TSA is recruiting both women and men for these openings. TSA offers new employees opportunities for pay increases after six months and is currently offering a $1,000 hiring bonus.  New hires will receive $500 upon starting and another $500 at their one-year anniversary.

Applicants do not need previous experience working in security or law enforcement fields. New hires will receive extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and they will be paid while undergoing training.

Benefits of working at TSA for both part- and full-time employees include paid training, annual and sick leave and choices among several strong health care plans. TSA is committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to apply, including military veterans and persons with disabilities.
