On Monday, March 21st, 2022, at around 1:14 A.M., Officers Forrester and Falise were conducting routine proactive patrol when they stopped a motor vehicle in the 700 block of W. Onondaga Street. The stopped car had three occupants inside. During the initial contact with the occupants, a gun was observed in plain view.
The front seat passenger, Mele Moore, 31, tried to turn the car on and encouraged the driver to drive away. The Officers were able to shut the car off and prevent an escape. Moore was pulled out of the vehicle and heavily resisted.
After a brief struggle Officers were eventually able to get Moore into custody. While this was taking place, other Officers arrived on the scene and helped take the driver, Norberto Rodriguez, 51, and the rear seat passenger, Shaquan Lockwood, 27, into custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed an illegal sawed-off Ruger Rifle, cocaine, and heroin.
All three occupants were charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree.
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.
In addition to these charges, Moore was arrested for resisting arrest. The driver was also ticketed for several vehicle and traffic infractions that led to the stop. All three were taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center.
