Talk, Read, Sing Onondaga to Host Feel The Beat Family Fest

Music, Food, and Family Fun at Performance Park/WCNY

Syracuse, NY Talk, Read, Sing Onondaga invites families to shake, rattle, and rock at Feel the Beat Family Fest, a free community event scheduled for Thursday, August 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Performance Park and the WCNY Broadcast and Education Center (corner of Marcellus and Wyoming Streets).

Celebrating the importance of music and movement in early childhood, the event will feature interactive performances by the Symphoria Percussion Ensemble at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m.; music-themed crafts and activities; early childhood resources and information from community partners; raffles and giveaways; bounce houses; interactive bubble displays; fire engine tours; and more.

“Exposure to music and musical experiences during early childhood has been shown to accelerate brain development, particularly in the areas of language acquisition, pre-reading, and math skills” notes Early Childhood Alliance Director Laurie Black. “With this event, we hope to encourage parents and caregivers to support their children’s development by making music a part of their everyday lives.”

Guests are encouraged to wear masks, especially if unvaccinated. In the event of inclement weather, activities will be moved inside. Visit facebook.com/TalkReadSingOnondaga for the latest updates.
