Syracuse Police Find Illegal Handgun at Brighton Ave. Traffic Stop

On Thursday, July 2nd, 2020, at around 6:46 P.M., Officers S. Knapp, and J. Senf conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Brighton Ave. on a 2007 Volvo. The vehicle was observed violating the vehicle and traffic law.

During the investigation, drugs were observed inside of the car. A search of the vehicle located marijuana, controlled substance prescription medications and a loaded, semi-automatic handgun.

As a result, the vehicle’s two occupants Vekeme Williams, 21, and Todd Trotman, 19 were arrested.

Vekeme was charged with numerous vehicle and traffic law violations, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree. Trotman was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree.​​
