“…excited but nervous”
SUNY for All enables students to hone their English skills, obtain a high school diploma, enroll in college, or make more money at work ¾ we are here to help you reach it with a little hard work and a lot of support.” https://www.suny.edu/otc
It was through SUNY For All (SFA) that Nicole Able found her way to Syracuse EOC.
Last spring, Nicole liked the Department of Labor Facebook page and started receiving posts about SFA. She learned that SFA courses and programs were tuition-free, which meant she could complete a program debt-free. Learning debt-free appealed to her. She submitted an interest form, and by mid-summer, Nicole was working with Tim Sulllivan, program counselor for SEOC’s Allied Health programs – Medical Secretary and Billing and Coding. She was accepted into the Medical Secretary program and began her online classes on September 13th.
Nicole was excited but nervous. She had never taken an online course before and believed she learned best in person but was ready for the challenge. And now she is one of the top performers in her class, and she loves learning online! Nicole said that there was a learning curve. But once she knew how to access and navigate the course, it was less of a challenge. However, you must do the work to be successful. She encourages other students to ask questions if they don’t understand something or need extra help.
One of Nicole’s teachers told us that she is a “self-motivated student who reaches out to faculty to ask questions if uncertain on class topics, shares her experiences as it relates to the content covered in class which adds great value to classroom conversation, and is very helpful to fellow classmates in our online platform. She is a pleasure to have in class.”
Thank you, Nicole for choosing Syracuse EOC and for being an excellent student and classmate!
