Syracuse EOC Staff Spotlight: Michelle Moretin

By:  Marlena Daher-Rahman | Syracuse EOC

Michelle was born and raised in Endicott, New York.  She earned an associate’s degree in Computer Data Processing from Broome Community College (now SUNYBroome), and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Wilkes University.  Along with her experience with SUNY, she has a multitude of knowledge in business areas (banking, finance, insurance, and technical support). One of the jobs she enjoyed was creating technical training manuals for procedures.

Michelle Moretin

Michelle has been with SUNY 11 years (8 years working at the EOC starting in the Administration Office where she enjoyed assisting administration, staff, and faculty members, and students). She prepared for Certified Nursing Assistant ceremonies, entering studentes/attendance, working with faculty on classroom materials, preparing for EOC graduation, creating procedures for Administration Office and assisted the Director of Academic Affairs.

She now currently works in the Community Engagement department where her duties include interfacing with students coming into the school to see their counselors, as well as other visitors, and routing them to the proper areas.  She assists the Director of Community Engagement with organizing documentation and maintaining the contacts lists for our partners.  This contact list is used to communicate EOC information to these partners.

Creating and distributing the EOC Newsletter is another one of her responsibilities.  She communicates with staff to prepare what will be included in our newsletter and works with the printer for processing.   Michelle prepares for various Community Engagement events and workshops, which includes documentation, handling invitations, attendance, event setups and more.  She helps the SPS department with entering student information/data into the BANNER computer system.

Duties also include working with the faculty in preparing the “Student of the Month”, compiling the information for each student selected and displaying it on our EOC bulletin board.

She also includes this information in the EOC Newsletter and prepares certificates for those students.  “The stories about our students are truly amazing and inspiring!” says Michelle.  She also assists the Administration Office by preparing documentation for “Perfect and Excellent Attendance” to recognize students attaining this goal.  “I have learned so much about how the EOC works and how we interact with the community plus the positive role the EOC plays in our community.  I strongly believe in the EOC mission.  I am thankful for my manager, Marlena, for working with me, showing me so much and know I will learn more!” says Michelle.
