Syracuse City School District to Offer Daily Summer Meal Distribution Beginning July 5th

The Syracuse City School District will offer free breakfasts and lunches Monday through Friday at meal sites throughout the City of Syracuse as part of its Summer Meal Service, beginning on Tuesday, July 5th at some sites.

Meals will be available for pick-up to all children 18 years and under. A complete list of meal sites, including dates and times of operation, is attached.

Children are invited to a Summer Meal Kickoff at Burnet Park (235 Coleridge Ave.) on Friday, July 8th from 11 am – 1 pm, where we will celebrate the start of the Summer Meal Program with a free meal and free activities.

In addition to the daily meal service, special BBQ Days will be offered at each participating park location over the course of the summer. At the BBQ Day events, students receiving meals will be treated to a special BBQ meal featuring grilled hamburgers and seasonal sides.

The BBQ Days will be held on the following dates:

  • July 8th at Burnet Park
  • July 11th at Thornden Park
  • July 13th at Wilson Park
  • July 15th at Kirk Park
  • July 21st at Westmoreland
  • July 22nd at Schiller Park

Thanks to the support of the Food Bank of Central New York, farm stands with fresh fruits and vegetables will be offered at school building sites on select dates throughout the summer. Families are encouraged to check www.syracusecityschools.com/food for an updated list of farm stand dates and locations.
