The Syracuse City School District Board of Education, in partnership with Hazard, Young Attea & Associates (HYA), has released a Leadership Profile Report and Desired Characteristics document, which will be used in the recruitment and selection of the District’s next Superintendent of Schools.
Following an online survey and several virtual and in-person focus groups, HYA compiled the Leadership Profile and related documents as a guide in their process to search for the District’s next Superintendent. More than 751 survey respondents and more than 70 focus group participants shared that the strengths of the district are its diversity, strong sense of community, and wide variety of educational opportunities. Participants identified the Superintendent’s biggest challenges to be building trusting relationships with stakeholders, creating positive and safe school environments, and improving student achievement. The complete Leadership Profile can be found online at www.syracusecityschools.com/superintendentsearch.
All members of the Syracuse community are invited to comment on the Leadership Profile and Desired Characteristics by visiting www.syracusecityschools.com/LetsTalk and clicking ‘Superintendent Search.’ Community feedback will be used by the HYA team as additional information in their recruitment process.
The HYA Associate team plans to close their application process in late September 2022, with a targeted start date for a Superintendent of Schools to begin on January 1, 2023.
