Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens will recognize World CP Day this year at City Hall on Friday, October 4 at 3 p.m., along with speakers addressing the importance of inclusion and inclusive sports, including Senator Rachel May. There will be proclamations of support from the Mayor’s, State Senator May’s, and U.S. Senator’s Schumer offices.
October 6 marks World CP Day, a global movement that recognizes that community, curiosity, and connection can improve the lives not only of people with cerebral palsy, but of all people. This year, people across the world are encouraged to head outside on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 pm for a half hour of exercise—and to include their friends and families with disabilities in these activities.
Syracuse has celebrated World CP Day for the last three years under the leadership of Cora True-Frost, Jim True-Frost, their daughter Phoebe, and their son Leo, who has CP.
