Syracuse, N.Y. – At approximately 4:38 pm the afternoon of June 18th, Syracuse Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 918 West Lafayette Avenue. The first firefighters arrived on scene within minutes to find heavy smoke and active fire showing from a 1.5 story wood frame residential structure.
Fire crews immediately began attacking the fire and conducting searches of the structure for any occupants. The fire was extinguished in approximately 30 minutes and searches of the home were negative. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
A total of 36 firefighters responded to the fire scene. The Syracuse Fire Investigation Bureau is investigating the cause and origin of the fire. Red Cross was called to the scene to provide assistance to the occupants of the home. Syracuse Police, AMR and National Grid also responded to the scene.
