“The violence and unsafe conditions at Henninger High School are beyond unacceptable. Our children need nurturing environments where they can learn, thrive, and be set up for lifelong success. Mayor Walsh claims Syracuse is rising. What’s rising is crime, violence, and anxiety for these students and their families. This is a monumental failure of leadership and a failure to deliver basic government services to keep our children safe. I’m calling on Ben Walsh to act immediately by providing additional support and resources for this school community, including students, staff, and families. We need social workers, mental health professionals and additional school safety agents dispatched immediately to Henninger High School until it is safe for students, staff, and administration to learn and teach there again.”
