On Monday, January 2nd, 2022, at around 9:49 A.M., Officers responded to Teall Avenue at Shuart Avenue for a menacing complaint. A call was made to 911, from a delivery driver working in the area, about a male at this location pointing a long gun at others. Officers responded to the scene to investigate.
At around 9:59 A.M., Officers observed the suspect, Corey Gray, 44, at his residence at 407 Shuart Street. Officers on the scene made several verbal requests for Gray to exit, which he refused. Syracuse Police Crisis Negotiators were called to the scene along with the department’s SWAT team.
After an approximate 14-hour standoff, Gray attempted to flee out the rear of his residence and was quickly taken into custody. Gray was arrested and charged with Menacing in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. Gray may also face additional charges for his actions in damaging a police vehicle during this call.
