Mayor Walsh Commends Common Council on Three Major Wins for Syracuse: Steam School, City as Canvas Public Art and I-81 Jobs

Statement by Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh regarding action by the Common Council yesterday:

“I commend the Syracuse Common Council on three major wins for Syracuse. With approval of the lease for the former Central Tech school building, we take another Syracuse Surge step toward creating a regional Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) school in downtown Syracuse. The Council’s authorization of American Rescue Plan funding for two important programs will accelerate recovery from the pandemic.  The Tomorrow’s Neighborhood Today “City as Canvas” public art program will provide support to local artists and beautify neighborhoods.  And pandemic relief funding for the Urban Jobs Task Force will help maximize local hiring on the Interstate 81 project. Working together, we are advancing progress for Syracuse.”
