Fairgoers Had to “Blame It On The Boogie,” as The Jacksons Performed at The New York State Fair

Fairgoers had to “Shake Their Body (Down to the Ground)” and “Blame it on the Boogie” on Saturday, August 27 at 8:00 p.m. When The Jacksons—brothers Jackie, Tito, and Marlon—took the Chevy Park Stage in the New York Experience Festival Grounds and played through a repertoire of their hits. “ABC… It’s easy as 1-2-3. And of course, the triumphant “Can you feel it?

It was more than 50 years ago that they first burst onto the music scene with a string of number one singles, including “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There.” Through the years, they amassed five number one albums and 17 Top 40 singles. Accolades include recognition in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

When The Jacksons reunited in 1984 for The Victory Tour, it was the highest-grossing concert series in the United States. Their harmonies and choreography have paved the way for the success of several iterations of boy bands.

The group didn’t disappoint the die-hard Jackson fans, as they played some of their greatest hits to the delight of the audience. As some fairgoers arrived at Chevy Court for the 8 pm concert, there was some confusion as many people didn’t know where the stage was located.

Opening with a testimony from the Jackson Matriarch, Katherine Jackson reminiscing about the humble beginnings of the Jackson family. At times it was a sing-along as many people are familiar with their staggering number of hits.

The Chevy Experience Stage promises to be another venue that allows the New York State Fair to stage multiple concerts throughout the facility.

All concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series are free with Fair admission. Tickets, just $3, are on sale now at the State Fair’s website. All concerts at the Fair are sponsored by Chevrolet. The full schedule is posted at The Fair’s website, on pages dedicated to Chevy Park and Chevy Court concerts.
