The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the Sunday May 10th shooting incident that occurred inside the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center (RTC) in the City of Syracuse.
On Sunday, May 10th, at approximately 2:07 am, sheriff’s deputies along with officers from the Syracuse Police Department responded to a reported shooting with multiple injuries inside the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center (RTC) located at 1 Walsh Circle. As officers arrived and approached the building they were encountered by a man armed with a handgun inside the lobby area. A deputy, identified as Sergeant Michael Hoosock (33), discharged his service weapon at the suspect, who was identified as Andrew Booker (31) of East Wareham Massachusetts. Booker was not struck and quickly surrendered without any injuries.
Two people inside the center had been shot by Booker. One victim, who was identified as Summit Security Officer Jahtheel Selmon (29) of Syracuse, who was shot in the abdomen. The other victim, identified as Olawatobifunmi Adedeji (31) of Far Rockaway NY, was shot in the leg. Both victims were transported to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Selmon underwent surgery later that day and was released from the hospital on Monday. Adedeji was treated and released on Sunday.
Sergeant Hoosock has been a member of the Sheriff’s Office since 2007 and has served as a supervisor since 2015.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
