Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Upgrades Dana Balter to “Red to Blue” Program

Campaign Joins the Top Tier of Targeted Races Nationally

One of the enduring traditions of democracy is when a political party comes together, that’s the case in the campaign for the 24th Congressional District.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added Dana Balter to its “Red to Blue” program today, a designation that reflects the 24th District’s status as a top potential takeover target this fall.

“I’m proud that our campaign is being recognized for the hard work we’ve done,” said Balter, who won her June primary by 25 points. “Our district deserves a representative who will show up, listen, and stand up for the people of central and western New York.”

“John Katko has voted with President Trump more than 90% of the time, and key administration officials have been propping up his campaign for months. The support and resources the Red to Blue program brings will help us hold him accountable,” Balter continued.

The DCCC’s Red to Blue program is their top designation for challenger candidates, given to campaigns that have met and surpassed goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization, and fundraising.

“Dana Balter understands the challenges facing Central New Yorkers because she has lived them,” DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Lujan said. “Inspired by her brother, Dana has built a career working as an advocate for families of disabled individuals. Overcoming her own illness that left her with a pre-existing condition meant she couldn’t sit back as thousands of Central New Yorkers had their health care threatened.”

The DCCC designation follows the opening of a headquarters office for central and western New York in downtown Syracuse last weekend. Candidates on the Red to Blue list also receive significant organizational, strategic, and fundraising support, plus staff resources.
