Crews Battle Major House Fire in Eastwood

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Syracuse Fire Department responded to 266 North Midler Avenue yesterday (8/15/20) around 11:30pm for a reported house fire. The first fire units were on scene in under 3 minutes, and found a house almost fully engulfed in flames. The occupants were not home at the time, but bystanders initially reported that a family dog might still be inside.

Crews immediately began working to extinguish the fire, and searching the structure. During firefighting operations, a wall and a section of the roof partially collapsed. It took approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. The house sustained a significant amount of damage, and the American Red Cross will be assisting the occupants with shelter and other needs. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Syracuse Police Department, AMR, and National Grid also responded to the fire. No injuries were reported.
