Over 5 million dollars is owed to Onondaga County
Syracuse, N.Y. – After failing to honor their repayment plan along with constant code violations and unpredictably for the remaining tenants, County Executive Ryan McMahon announced foreclosure action has been filed against the owners of Great Northern Mall in Onondaga County Supreme Court.
The owners owe Onondaga County $5,223,648.94 as of February 28th County Executive Ryan McMahon said, “The days of out-of-town landlords failing to pay their taxes while simultaneously depreciating their properties are over. We held Moonbeam responsible when it came to ShoppingTown Mall and today, we are doing the same with the owners of Great Northern Mall.” McMahon continued, “With the action taken today, Onondaga County has now begun the process of taking over ownership of this mall and will work diligently and expeditiously to get this property redeveloped and back into productive use.”
The lawsuit should not have any immediate impact on any current tenants of the mall.
