Syracuse, New York – Congressman John Katko on June 10th released the following statement:
“Local and state law enforcement must cooperate with federal authorities to enforce our nation’s immigration laws and to keep our communities safe. Efforts to thwart federal law enforcement should never be encouraged, and I strongly believe legislation before the New York State legislature to designate New York as a ‘sanctuary state’ is dangerous policy. Lawmakers at all levels of government have a duty to look out for the best interest and safety of our communities, and I urge the state legislature to reject this measure.”
