Syracuse, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse will begin enforcing metered parking in alignment with the expiration of the New York State on PAUSE executive order at the end of this week. Metered parking regulations will be actively monitored for compliance by the Syracuse Police Department. Parking regulations such as alternate side, handicapped, restricted areas, and no parking zones will also continue to be enforced.
The City is working with the Downtown Committee on plans for special curbside pickup parking for restaurants and retail that will be introduced Downtown later this month and, based on experience, will likely expand into other parts of the City.
The City will also reinstate the following parking policies previously modified:
- Boot program for unpaid parking fines will resume no later than June 1
- Regular due dates for parking payment plans will resume in June (missed payments for March, April and May will be added to the bill)
- Penalty fees for late parking ticket payments
Fees to park at each City-owned garage, surface lot, and facility will be applied as advertised, including at the Washington Street garage in downtown Syracuse, which was opened to City residents who did not have a parking pass during the PAUSE. Individuals seeking to a contest parking ticket can email Parking@syrgov.net.
