Salary: $45,518.00-$58,404.00

THIS IS A COMPETITIVE CIVIL SERVICE POSITION. APPOINTMENT WILL BE MADE ON A PROVISIONAL BASIS UNTIL THE EXAM RESULTS ARE POSTED. YOU MUST BE REACHABLE FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Promotion:

Five (5) years of permanent competitive class status in the title of Environmental Health Technician I or Environmental Health Technician II.

Open Competitive:

  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher which must include thirty (30) semester credit hours in the natural sciences, of which not more than twelve (12) credit hours may be in the applied sciences; or,
  1. Five (5) years of work experience, or its part time equivalent, as an Environmental Health Technician or Public Health Technician in a New York State, County, or City Department of Health and have satisfactorily completed a public health training course approved by the State Health Department.

NOTE: The term natural science means a science such as biology, chemistry, or physics that deals with the objects, phenomena, or laws of nature and the physical world. It includes all physical and biological sciences.

The term applied science means science based courses in environmental technology, sanitation technology, medical technology, public health, infection control or food science.

SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENT

When required to operate a motor vehicle, possession of a valid New York State Non-CDL or CDL including any special endorsements as required for the type of vehicle being operated.

*Minimum qualifications derived from Part 11 of the State Sanitary Code (10 NYCRR).
