Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Recruit Apprentices

Liverpool, NY  – The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) for Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local Union #2 (Syracuse), will conduct a recruitment from May 4, 2022 through April 26, 2023 for two Cement Finisher or Cement Mason apprentices; six Bricklayer, Mason and Plasterer apprentices; six Pointer, Caulker and Cleaner apprentices; two Tile, Marble and Terrazzo Finisher apprentices; and two Tile Setter (3 Year) apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Applications can be obtained at: Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local Union #2 (Syracuse), 7705 Maltlage Drive, Liverpool, NY, on the first Wednesday of each month, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applications can also be obtained during the recruitment period online at www.bac2nyvt.org.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED).
  • Must be physically able to lift 50-100 pounds.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites and required classes at the approved school.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in order to operate company vehicles.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
