“Blame It On The Boogie,” The Jacksons are Coming to The Great New York State Fair

Fairgoers are invited to “Shake Their Body (Down to the Ground)” and “Blame it on the Boogie” on Saturday, August 27 at 8:00 p.m. That’s when The Jacksons—brothers Jackie, Tito, and Marlon—will take the Chevy Court Stage and play through a repertoire of their hits.

The Jacksons, originally known as the Jackson 5 featuring brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, are in elite company, having achieved “pop royalty” status. It was more than 50 years ago that they first burst onto the music scene with a string of number one singles, including “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There.” Through the years, they amassed five number one albums and 17 Top 40 singles. Accolades include recognition in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

When The Jacksons reunited in 1984 for The Victory Tour, it was the highest-grossing concert series in the United States. Their harmonies and choreography have paved the way for the success of several iterations of boy bands.

“ABC… It’s easy as 1-2-3. Can you feel it? We’ll keep the puns going all day if it helps highlight how we excited we are about bringing The Jacksons to the Great New York State Fair later this month,” said interim Fair Director Sean Hennessey. “This really feels like one of the most diverse line-ups of music that The Fair has had when it comes to the levels of longevity and variety of genres represented. We hope you’ll sing along with us as we move and groove to The Jacksons on August 27.”

All concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series are free with Fair admission. Tickets, just $3, are on sale now at the State Fair’s website. All concerts at the Fair are sponsored by Chevrolet. The full schedule is posted at The Fair’s website, on pages dedicated to Chevy Park and Chevy Court concerts.

Founded in 1841, the Great New York State Fair showcases the best of New York agriculture, provides top-quality entertainment and is a key piece of the state’s CNY Rising strategy of growing the Central New York economy through tourism. The 2022 Fair begins Wednesday, August 24, and continues through Monday, September 5.

The New York State Fairgrounds is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. Audiences are encouraged to learn more about the Great New York State Fair online, and follow the fun on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Guests are invited to see photos from the Fair on Flickr and ideas are always welcome. New Yorkers are encouraged to send suggestions via email to statefairideas@agriculture.ny.gov.
