Position: Member, Board of Assessment Review (part-time)
Pay Rate: $150/day in January and February; $125/day in other months; part-time position, some evenings required, January through March.
The Board of Assessment Review is an independent adjudicative body established under the Real Property Tax Law of the State of New York for the purposes of reviewing grievances about real property assessments in the City of Syracuse. The five-member Board sits annually in February and March, hears appeals, and makes decisions based on relevant law and the facts presented by both the City Department of Assessment and the grievant/property owner. Each member of the Board is appointed by the Common Council of the City of Syracuse to a five-year term.
