The AG lauded rural democrats for their courage to fight for democratic values.
Delineating a clear vision for New York, AG James promised to continue to deliver tangible benefits for all New Yorkers.
New York – On Friday April 29th New York State Attorney General Letitia James, attended the Democratic Rural Conference in Albany to address upstate elected officials, advocates and labor leaders, recognizing their efforts to elevate democratic voices and values in rural areas across the state and reaffirming her relentless commitment to hold the powerful accountable and serve as the ‘People’s Lawyer’.
“When I was elected four years ago, I vowed to act without fear or favor, to hold the powerful accountable and to be unbought, unbossed, and unafraid – and I intend to finish the job for four more years,” said Attorney General Letitia James. “From securing millions of dollars to rural counties to helping eradicate the opioid epidemic, strengthening protections for working Americans, protecting seniors by taking on abuses in nursing homes, and safeguarding consumers from fraud and price gouging – I will continue to fight for New Yorkers in every corner of this state and I am committed to taking on the fights that matter on behalf of vulnerable New Yorkers.”
Attorney General James outlined her vision for making New York a fairer place for everyone and highlighted her office’s achievements such as the $1.5 billion in settlement money from pharmaceutical companies responsible for widespread opioid addiction and overdoses in New York, sending that money directly to rural counties to fund recovery and prevention.
During the Attorney General’s robust reelection campaign, a core part of her work includes traveling to rural counties in upstate including Erie, Monroe, Onondaga, and Albany counties. In addition, the office of the Attorney General has 13 Regional Offices around the state, addressing critical areas such as elder abuse, consumer fraud and tenants’ rights.
