Oak Street Shots Fired, Police Make Arrest

On Friday, August 12th, 2022, at around 11:40 P.M., Officers responded to the 100 block of Oak Street for a shots fired call. Upon arrival, Officers located two victims, a 33-year-old male and a 32-year-old male who reported just being shot at. The 33-year-old male suffered from a gunshot graze wound to the leg. There were several casings located on the scene. While Officers were investigating this incident, a suspect emerged from the Northside Market located at 106 Oak Street.

The investigation revealed the suspect, Basim Saad, 18, of Syracuse, shot at the victims during a dispute prior to police arrival. Saad was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

The investigation is active and ongoing and anyone with information is compelled to contact the Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at (315) 442-5222.
