One week after Russia invaded Ukraine, photojournalist, Maranie Rae Staab traveled to Moldova at the Ukrainian border and to the Southern Ukrainian cities of Odessa and Mykolayiv. Her intention with this virtual exhibition is to share the experiences of those she met and give us an intimate perspective of what is happening on the ground. While the largest number of refugees have fled to Poland, the highest per capita have arrived at the border of Moldova.
Current Virtual Exhibition through May 31, 2022
The small, poor but generous country of less than 3 million people received more than 421,000 people by mid April. Maranie Rae Staab is an independent photographer, videographer and journalist. Her work focuses on human rights and social justice issues, social movements, displacement and the impact(s) of conflict on individuals and society.
Her work has taken her across the globe, several times over, and we at ArtRage were pleased to meet her in 2019 during her final semester in the multimedia, photography and design (MPD) program at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. (Click on image to enlarge.)
