Syracuse, N.Y. – At the 2022 State of the County Address, County Executive Ryan McMahon issued the “Help Me Grow Developmental Screening Challenge” in partnership with the Early Childhood Alliance. This screening challenge was part of a communitywide effort to provide parents with the tools they need to assess the general and social development of their children.
County Executive Ryan McMahon said, “Onondaga County has a proud track record of making unprecedented investments in our children, including ‘Help Me Grow’, and those investments are successful thanks to important partners like the Early Childhood Alliance lead by Laurie Black. The “Help Me Grow Developmental Screening Challenge” empowers parents to proactively monitor and promote developmental milestones and ultimately make sure their child is Kindergarten ready.”
McMahon continued, “We believe and want to support all parents in being their child’s first and best teacher.”
The Early Childhood Alliance (ECA) is responsible for administering programs like Talking is Teaching, Help Me Grow and the Child Care Quality Improvement Program. In the last two years, ECA has reached over 3,500 families in their efforts. Parents who participate in the challenge are then eligible for a $250 gift card.
