Syracuse Police Respond to N. State Street Shooting

On Thursday, March 31st, 2022, at around 4:53 P.M., Officers responded to 200 North State Street for a shooting with injuries call. Upon arrival, Officers located a 26-year-old male who was shot in the midsection. The victim was transported to Upstate Hospital in serious condition.

The investigation revealed that a female suspect, later identified as Ashley Sanders, 26, entered the gas station with a sawed-off rifle and shot the victim. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. When Officers arrived on the scene, they provided life-saving care to the victim along with other EMS personnel. The victim is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

As the case progressed, Officers located the suspect near E. Fayette Street and Croly Street. The suspect was interviewed, and search warrants were conducted.

As a result of these efforts, Sanders was charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. ​The victim was lodged at the Justice Center.
