Syracuse, N.Y. – Less than one percent of all fire departments in the United States have been able to attain an ISO class 1 rating. The Syracuse Fire Department is one of them. Only 24 fire departments in the entire world have earned the Seal of Excellence Award from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The Syracuse Fire Department is one of them.
In 2021, the SFD responded to more than 21,000 emergency calls. These calls included structure fires, medical emergencies, automobile accidents, hazardous material spills, and technical rescue incidents.
