Statement From Senator John W. Mannion, Chair of the Senate Disabilities Committee, on S6516A – Funding Parity for Special Education Programs

John W. Mannion

Syracuse – Senator John W. Mannion (D-Geddes) today released the following statement:

“I share the disappointment of so many administrators, teachers, parents, and advocates who fought for children with disabilities and supported my funding parity legislation for special education programs.

“I believe that this setback will be temporary and I am optimistic as we move forward. Governor Hochul has signaled her support of addressing funding parity in the upcoming State Budget. I look forward to partnering with the governor on fixing a bad policy and delivering the resources our schools need to provide a sound education to every child in the state.”
