National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors to Hold Eastern States Regional in Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (8/11/21) – All those interested in antique clocks or watches take note! The public is invited to attend the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC), 51st annual Eastern States Regional (ESR) on Friday, August 20 and Saturday, August 21. The event takes place at the Ramada by Wyndham (formerly the Holiday Inn), 441 Electronics Parkway, Liverpool, New York. Hours are Noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Thousands of antique clocks, watches, repair tools and horological items will be on display in addition to numerous educational offerings.

The MART on Friday and Saturday provides a great opportunity to buy antique clocks and
watches. The event will feature a Special Exhibit on Friday and Saturday curated by expert Paul J. Foley entitled Ingenious Artist – Simon Willard and his Patent Time Pieces. The exhibit will focus on the history of America’s most iconic clock – the banjo clock. Many fine examples of rare banjo clocks will be displayed. In conjunction with the formal exhibit, renowned collector and researcher John Delaney will give a formal lecture on Friday at 1 p.m. on the history of Willard and the banjo clock from the early hand-made developmental stage to later machine made production timepieces.

Starting at 7 p.m., the Friday evening lecture series will feature two presentations from experts in their fields. Joel Warren will give a presentation on some of his more complicated Ithaca Calendar Clock restoration projects and Jonathan Rowe will discuss evaluating wristwatches prior to purchase and understanding authorized versus (Grey) market retailers.

Saturday morning features hands-on workshops on clock and watch repair techniques. Repairs require a range of skills and tools, but many of the workshops will focus on repairs that can be performed with limited experience and common tools. ESR offers an outstanding opportunity for learning, networking, adding to your collection and meeting new friends as well as renewing old friendships regardless of your horological interests.
