Rescue Mission to Serve and Deliver Thousands of Thanksgiving Meals

Syracuse, NY – The Rescue Mission is preparing to serve and deliver over 2,000 meals on Thanksgiving Day to men, women, and children in need. Meals will be served as dine-in (for shelter residents), take-out (for community members), and via contactless delivery by volunteers (to community members across Onondaga County). The Rescue Mission, its staff, and volunteers will adhere to strict COVID-19 safety protocols while ensuring no one goes hungry on Thanksgiving.

Take Out

On Thanksgiving, the Rescue Mission will serve breakfast, dinner and a midday holiday meal with turkey and all the trimmings. Free tickets for the meal will be distributed on Thanksgiving Day at the Alice C. Barber Day Center and Kiesewetter Emergency Shelter, 122 Dickerson Street (across the from the Food Service Center).

The Rescue Mission is preparing:

  • 1,200 pounds of cooked turkey
  • 250 pies
  • 20 gallons of gravy
  • 2,600 dinner rolls
  • (42) 12×20 inch pans of stuffing
  • (48) 12×20 inch pans of vegetables
  • (42) 12×20 inch pans of mashed potatoes

The Rescue Mission served more than 240,000 meals over the last year in Syracuse, and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, providing breakfast, lunch and dinner every day to men, women and children at risk of going hungry.

 Thursday, November 26, 2020 – 7 a.m. – Noon

  • Meal Packing and Volunteer Deliveries: 7a.m – 10 a.m.
  • Meal Service: 10:45 a.m. – Noon

Locations

Free tickets for the meal will be distributed on Thanksgiving Day at the Alice C. Barber Day Center and Kiesewetter Emergency Shelter, 122 Dickerson Street (across the from the Food Service Center).
