Onondaga County May Reopen May 15th Hospitalizations are Declining: Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon’s COVID19 Briefing – May 9, 2020

Overall, the county has 1,329 confirmed cases, 588 of those are active cases, total death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 69 people. Due to concerns voiced by the public Walmart has begun giving customers masks to wear up entering the Walmart in East Syracuse. These masks are being provided by Onondaga County. We performed 677 tests on Thursday, 700 is about the daily number that we must conduct prior to reopening.

CENTRO operator may have had contact with customers, however due to the change in boarding by the rear doors, customer contact was at a minimum. However, two individuals utilizing their mobility device should contact the Onondaga County Health Department. In addition to the aforementioned, there were several businesses that have reported COVID-19 positives. Potential Exposure at Eight Local Businesses

By all indicators it appears that Onondaga County will be one of the first areas of New York State to open. “We met or will have met, all of the 7 guidelines required by the state for a restart. When you look at our testing data over the last 7 days. We are poised for a restart May 15th We continue to work with our regional partners on ways we can move this process forward.” Onondaga County is ready to restart when the Governor says we can.
