Potential for Hazardous Road Conditions many schools and organizations have announced closings due to the weather conditions
Syracuse University, Onondaga Community College, Educational Opportunity Center, Syracuse City School District and many more have closed for the day.
County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II has issued a Travel Advisory for Onondaga County for Friday, February 7th, 2020.
This travel advisory does not restrict travel. It is a warning to motorists that hazardous driving conditions may exist throughout the County. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning with snow accumulations that could exceed 2 inches per hour. The storm will then be followed by extreme cold and widespread winds. Conditions throughout the county may vary from location to location.
Please monitor local forecasts and conditions as the impact varies depending on location.
Precautionary/preparedness actions:
For the safety of all residents, the general public is encouraged to consider the need to be on the roads during the above time frame and to use extreme caution while traveling in or around Onondaga County.
If you must travel:
- Travel at reduced speeds to allow for increased reaction time,
- Allow additional time to reach your destination,
- Completely clear your vehicle of snow and ice,
- Move over and slow down when approaching emergency vehicles or tow trucks, and
- Do not pass snow plows.
