Syracuse Fire Department Fire dispatched to Car Fire on West Newell Street

Syracuse, N.Y. – At approximately 3:37 p.m. on Saturday September 28th, the Syracuse Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire in the garage at 240 West Newell Street.  Engine Co. 8 and Truck 8 (2412 South Salina Street) were on the scene within 2 minutes.  The home is a two story wood frame building with an attached garage.  First arriving companies made quick work of the car fire and searched for any potential victims.  It was discovered that an adult male had suffered minor injuries as a result of this incident.  AMR transported the male to the hospital for further evaluation.

Damage from the fire was contained to the garage and no one else was home at the time of the fire.  National Grid, the Red Cross and the Syracuse Police Department were also on the scene assisting the Fire Department.  Fire Investigators are working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.  No other injuries were reported and no additional information is available at this time.
