Onondaga Community College celebrated its December graduates during two ceremonies tomorrow (Wednesday, December 14)
Ceremony #1: Nurse Pinning Ceremony 3pm Otis Suite in SRC Arena Building
OCC held a Nurse Pinning Ceremony for 22 students completing their Nursing degrees. The ceremony is a symbolic welcoming into the Nursing profession. The pin they receive symbolizes their hard work and dedication towards their coursework and clinicals. The need for nurses is critical. Across the United States, community colleges annually produce more than 50 percent of all new nurses and other healthcare workers. Among the highlights in this class:
- One graduating Nursing student will be pinned by her grandmother who is a retired nurse.
- One graduating Nursing student already has her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) pin and her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) pin. She will be adding her RN (Registered Nurse) pin at the ceremony.
- Two graduating Nursing students are sisters.
